Open MRI New Jersey

One of the biggest advantages of the Sall Myers Medical Associates is the on-site OPEN MRI.

Simply put, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a powerful magnetic field to line up the atoms in your body so that the scanner can get a better, clearer, often 3D image of them. Unlike an x-ray, the MRI provides excellent contrast between soft tissues of the body and the bones and cartilage. This makes the MRI ideal for imaging:

  • The brain and spinal cord
  • Muscles and connective tissue
  • Internal organs, such as the spleen, liver, kidneys, and pancreas

Another advantage of MRI technology is that it does no harm to the patient, unlike x-rays and CT scans, which both use a different, slightly more dangerous form of radiation.

Advantages of open MRI

Traditional MRI machines are tunnel-shaped, and can cause a wide range of discomfort for large or claustrophobic patients. Our open MRI is, as you may have guessed, open on the sides, and patients can more comfortably receive the same high-quality image as they would in a closed MRI unit. Additionally, an open MRI is ideal for handicapped persons, children, or anyone else who might need supervision or desire company during the procedure. Open MRI machines are also considerably quieter than their closed counterparts.

Advantages of on-site MRI

Practices often rely on a hospital’s MRI machine, so your MRI procedure is limited by a number of factors. Hospital schedules are usually jam-packed, they are not necessarily conveniently located, and the speed in which they get the results interpreted and back to your doctor isn’t always convenient either. At Sall Myers Medical Associates, our MRI machine is on-site. This allows faster scheduling and quicker results from your MRI scan.
